SHIFTING GEARS | GUARANTEED RIDE HOME

NEED TO GET HOME IN AN EMERGENCY? THE RIDE'S ON US.

From May 1-31, if you’re a Shifting Gears participant who walks, bikes, takes transit or shares a ride to work, you can use this program for a free ride home in case of emergency.

CONDITIONS

TO USE THE GRH, YOU MUST:

WHAT COUNTS AS AN EMERGENCY?

  • Family illness or injury
  • Personal illness or injury
  • You have to work unscheduled overtime
  • Your rideshare driver left early due to illness, injury, or has to work unscheduled overtime.

WHAT DOES NOT COUNT AS AN EMERGENCY?

  • Inclement weather
  • Errands
  • Car trouble
  • Scheduled appointments or overtime
  • Trips to a medical facility that should be made in an ambulance

HOW TO USE IT

If you satisfy the above conditions, you can use a GRH voucher for a free emergency ride home.

  1. Call a Taxi

    One short stop can be made between the work site and home (i.e., to pick up a family member from a school or medical facility to bring home). No errands or rides for coworkers are permitted.
  2. Pay the taxi and keep the receipt.
  3. Fill out and send the GRH voucher by June 3, 2011 to Shifting Gears to receive your reimbursement.
    Mail, fax or drop off the completed form with your taxi receipt by June 4, 2010 to receive reimbursement (begins June 5, 2010). We reserve the right to refuse reimbursement if the voucher does not meet the usage conditions or if your submission constitutes abuse of the program.
