Sidewalk Strategic Plan
The purpose of the Sidewalk Strategic Plan, which was adopted by City Council in March 2008, is to prioritize implementation of new sections of sidewalk within the City of Peterborough. Sidewalks are key to support walking as a mode of transportation and recreation. The scope of this project includes missing sections of sidewalk and sidewalk ramps in existing developments throughout the city. The project does not include sidewalk repairs, which are handled through the Public Works Division.
This comprehensive analysis of sidewalk and curb cut needs guides sidewalk capital expenditures within the City. This Plan facilitates maximum benefit derived from capital expenditures on pedestrian facility investments made by the City over the short and long term, while creating efficient and accessible pedestrian linkages throughout the community.
